Do you know, Lord Vaclav? When I lost my family, nobody was here to help me. Now, I saw tragedies happening across this world, but people rather believes in lies of some lying politicians and chose to ignore the tragedy. Many parts of the world now falls under this tragedy, and that was what happened in Aldegyr Kingdom during its prime, which it deserves its fate of being destroyed. The point is, this pathetic world is sick. Crime and violence are so common that humans have become numb to it. To heal this world, there are many steps we need to follow in order to drown such apathy of humanity, making it disappeared. First and the foremost, we have to force people to take notice... By showing everyone in this world their darkest selves. I'll consider your request. Now, leave my office at once.

Melancholia

Melancholia (true name: Plaisir, later known as the Serum Melancholia after being cast out by her good counterpart) is an evil fairy who was forced to served Moloch, and she is also Michael Langdon's apprentice and Neo-Hellfire's builder. In fact, she hated Moloch very much and decided to double-cross him under Michael's influence, despite her good counterpart's intend to end those madness and save her own soul.

The evil side of Melancholia/Plaisir was delusional. She deemed Michael as her only true friend and fell in love with him in her own twisted way, but Michael never loved her. She is an OC character made by Officer Candy Apple and served as a minor villain in LOTM: Witnesses of Sleepy Hollow & Sword of Kings Crossover - The Corbin Files. She is also the main antagonist (although the Disc One Final Boss before FOLIE) of the upcoming LOTM: Witnesses of Sleepy Hollow Spin-Off - Firenza Junior.

Once, as a light fairy named Plaisir, Melancholia was light-hearted and lived inside Enchanted Forest with happiness. She always pursued happiness and will be happy to see others be happy. However, after seeing her friends burned down her best friends and tormented her, corrupted her until she became his loyal killing machine, Melancholia became a twisted fairy who loves to see people cry and drinks their tears. Her darker personality reflected many monsters who served Moloch - heartless, cruel and egotistic.

In Old Timeline, she survived Years of Tribulation and became loyal to Triggers Hell when World War III started, and she built a evil organization named Neo-Hellfire to honor Moloch. During this time, she hid herself under the ocean, watching the war raging on while planning to unleash a great flood on Earth.

However, after the New Timeline Melancholia (pacted with Michael and became his apprentice) possessed her, the future Melancholia returned to be loyal with Moloch, although out of pretense. She also fell in love with Michael and will do anything for him as long as he pleased. However, she remains her free will and wants to take down Moloch to avenge her family. She later turned against Michael after the latter chose to fuse with Nether Sorensen the Demon Prince and attempted to turn the world into a living Hell for Moloch to rule, but she was cast out by Plaisir and became an individual character pressed by a even darker dark side known as Mercedes the Merciless (also cast out), who was what Plaisir will become when she became Moloch's devoted servant instead of trying to turn against him. Melancholia was later purified and chained inside Plaisir's Mind Palace willingly, and the two merged into one entity completely, making Plaisir a more matured, calm and composed person.

After the Fallen's final death, Melancholia/Plaisir lived for 5 billions years since fairies are immortal. However, after the Darkness itself reemerged at Multi-Universe, Michael Langdon (escaped from Triggers Hell and hid himself to expand his legion secretly) had sprung to life once more. Michael's secret return also brought back his reign of the Fallen Roman Catholic Church as a new Dark Empire. After knowing Michael's resurrection, Plaisir set out to wipe out the demonic forces that haunted her for 5 billions of years.

Overview[]

Plaisir & Fusion Melancholia[]

Fate.Grand.Order.full

Plaisir said goodbye to Michael in his final moment

Because of her care, gratitude and romantic love for Michael, the fusion Melancholia who still had some sides of Plaisir, is not a Complete Monster, but still she has ruthless and psychopathic traits. Like Moloch, Melancholia has no tolerances to fools or failure. She even stabbed a minion of hers to death simply because he did not waked her up. At first, she hated humanity and considered humans as threats because long as she lived, she had witnessed corruptions, dictatorship and war. Her views of humanity was the same of Michael's view.

After Michael's apparent death, the past Melancholia fell into disillusions and tried to restore her twisted romance by "bringing back" Michael, and she kept capturing humans and transformed them into a Michael after another, making their voice, physical appearance and even genes are as same as him. However, what she did not know is that Michael's soul fragment had observed everything secretly. Once she completed the 4000th Michael, Melancholia was imprisoned by Michael and her soul was devoured, and all of her clones and the entire Neo-Hellfire had been taken over by Michael's Legion, proving that Melancholia was nothing more than just a pawn to Michael, not a lover.

After all of the abuse she had suffered, Melancholia had finally seen through Michael's true nature and eventually turned to hate him. When James Colby had brought Moloch's Essence to Sword of Kings universe via his painting, Melancholia arrived at the future and merged with her revived future self again. This time, she joined forces of heroes to wipe Michael's Legion, Moloch's Army and possessed zombies as much as she could, eventually betraying Michael, Moloch and Leohart, thus redeeming herself.

Original Melancholia[]

Joan.Alter.full

Melancholia

Melancholia, often meaning sadness, is one of the two dark sides alongside Mercedes the Merciless that were born from Plaisir's despair and sorrow due to the loss of her family at the hands of Moloch. Unlike Merciless, who represents the servility built inside Plaisir's mind due to her fear towards Moloch, Melancholia is more like a free agent who had her own agenda in aligning with Michael Langdon. Even though she was also obeying Moloch and carrying on his legacy, Melancholia attempted to overthrow him so that she could orchestrate Moloch's downfall and ruined him. Therefore, instead of Moloch, Michael is the true master of Melancholia.

When she appears in Firenza Junior spinoff in her first full appearance (instead of a cameo in The Corbin Files), Melancholia (as well as Plaisir) reveals herself to be an utterly delusional woman. She's the first Knight Templar antagonist appeared in LOTM: Witnesses of Sleepy Hollow since she believes she's working for the greater good to save humanity from themselves, but she's using the wrong way. Unlike Kanon Rihavein / Heis, Melancholia really shows no hatred to human and never considers them as inferior beings. Nonetheless, she still considers humanity as pitiful and tragic beings (albeit arguably with some sort of sadness and sympathy) that keeps killing each other, destroying their only planet that they can live without any qualm. Melancholia was firmly disgusted by their atrocities, but still she had sympathy towards humans and blamed everything on the modernized society that made humans robotic and apathetic.

Casterwithhood17

Melancholia with Michael's hood while pretending to be him in her deluded mind

Melancholia also suffered from a split personality and she sometimes talking to a shadowy Michael inside her deluded mind, and she even dressed up as Michael while attacking Patriarch Krans, Acqua of the Back and Orthodox Church clergies in Siberia. When her hood were hit down by the Patriarch, Melancholia looked at herself within the mirror. Realized that she was playing Michael's role in her deluded mind, Melancholia screamed in terror before she escaped, showing her love for Michael had drove her mad. However, she was still deluded that she could not figured out that her "Michael" persona was planted by the original Michael inside her body in order to drive her insane.

Despite being menacing, Melancholia is not a completely serious person, since she had a dark sense of humor and loved to use sarcasm, making her sense of humor seemed twisted, but she could be a comic relief as well in certain circumstances.

Fate.Grand.Order.full

Melancholia & Michael

In spite of her harsh, cold, manipulative and cruel personality, Melancholia has her own standards as she genuinely cares for the people from the Langdon Orphans and treats them as her family, just like how Maria Arzonia treats her comrades from La Nueva Familia de Arzonia. After falling into despair, she still retained her own free will while trying to push her even darker side, Merciless - something that Plaisir is unaware of - to avoid of becoming Moloch's slave. She revealed that the main source of her willpower is hatred, as she can never serve a demon king who slaughtered her family.

Melancholia is heavily disturbed by humanity's dark side and the apathetic nature during her long era of life. After accumulating her experience through what she saw, hear and feel in 2,000 years, Melancholia attempted to purge humanity with drowning and destroy the world so that she can create it anew, a new world where apathy and despair are no more. It's an idea that was shared by the Order of Flourish in their early projects. In spite of working with the KnightWalker Alliance during World War III, Melancholia believed that they were also sinned and ruined the world with their war. She believed that only becoming one of them can make them pay for what they did.

Cross-Over.full

Melancholia confronted by Merciless

Another human side of Melancholia is her love towards Michael, out of affectionate feeling. This is in fact coming from Plaisir, which influenced Melancholia as well. Michael, in turn, treats the two personality as the same woman and often write letter to Melancholia when she was free. Melancholia also has a fear and disgust towards Mercedes the Merciless, who represents what Plaisir would become if she fully accepted her tragic fate and became Moloch's willing puppet, a puppet with no salvation.

When Melancholia (alongside Merciless, unknown to Plaisir) was driven out by Plaisir via Dr. Jekyll's serum, Melancholia angrily blamed Plaisir to get her hidden slavishness (represented by Mercedes the Merciless) out of her as well and made everyone a harder threat, when Merciless revealed herself to the whole Team Witness, possessed Melancholia and went away. Melancholia also claimed that without her, Plaisir would eventually lost herself inside her "pure good" delusions and became a even worse person. This eventually proved to be true when Dr. Jekyll gone delusional and became even worse than Mr. Hyde due to his hatred towards Mr. Gold and all the Dark Ones.

Fate.Grand.Order.full

Plaisir accepts the free will of Melancholia

Overall, with the story progressed, Melancholia starts to realize the error in her ways and realized there's another way to overthrow Moloch's rule and save humanity through what she saw from Selina Strawberry's reformation after the end of Harvest Saga. She becomes soften, kinder, more genuinely righteous and starts to represents both Plaisir's dark side and human side with free will, preventing Plaisir from living like a narcissistic and boring character that is like a pure blank sheet of paper, while also preventing Plaisir from being tainted by the darkness and became worse.

Arguably, Melancholia is the most matured and freest counterpart of Plaisir. Before her corruption, Plaisir appears as a over-the-top bubbly, idealistic and self-righteous Mary Sue character who compares herself to Joan of Arc and a hero, unknowing that the reality isn't what she thought like before.

After Plaisir was driven to despair for the very first time, Melancholia was born from her dark side and possessed her, while Merciless would be involved if Plaisir chose to serve Moloch. The two influenced each other as they progressed, as Plaisir began to realize the world isn't always perfected from Melancholia's point of view, while Melancholia was influenced by Plaisir's affectionate side and thus showed great care to Michael and Langdon Orphans, beginning to have a concept of family.

Eventually, after working together to defeat Merciless, Plaisir accepted Melancholia's characteristic of maturity and realistic view as her own self, and Melancholia willingly sealed herself into Plaisir's Mind Palace. The two eventually merged together in Plaisir's body, and Plaisir became much more matured, wise and composed while still remaining her kind and benevolent personality.

Merciless[]

Mercedes the Merciless haunting Plaisir

After Melancholia's defeat, her original Plaisir personality cast Melancholia out from her body using Dr. Jekyll's own serum, but it eventually revealed that Plaisir had a even worse side known as Mercedes the Merciless (or simply known as Merciless) who is fully devoted to Moloch, willingly to die for him as his puppet and do anything evil for him. This is what Moloch sees Plaisir / Melancholia is - a tool.

After possessing Melancholia and joined Moloch's side, Mercedues reveals herself to be a much, much more vicious entity with a heart of pure evil. Whilst Plaisir had saw through Michael's true nature and fought against him as well as Michael Langdon, Mercedes became perversely zealous on Moloch and eventually helped him and Michael to conquer Paradise.

Although seemly a knockoff to Melancholia, Merciless was revealed to be Plaisir's imaginary adversary when she was a child who was so naive that she proclaimed herself as a pure hero. Merciless was what Plaisir imagined to be a pure-evil villain, whom she named "her" as Mercedes. Mercedes is a lot more cruel and sadistic than Melancholia, who laughed at Plaisir's naivety and mocked her with what happened on Dr. Jekyll, showing her that pure-hearted heroes never existed in reality.

60402250 p0 master1200

Merciless' deranged side

In fact, Plaisir started to realize the consequence of Jekyll's Serum just judging by the case of its inventor. Dr. Jekyll cast Mr. Hyde - his evil side - out of his body, but as time goes by, Dr. Jekyll becomes more and more self-righteous and extreme, believing all enemies of him are irredeemable and started to fall into Black and White Insanity like what appeared on Carl Robinson, deeming Mr. Gold and all the Dark Ones as his enemies and killing anyone who tried to stop his extreme actions, even his former friends. Plaisir was horrified to see Dr. Jekyll became someone even worse than Hyde and started to struggle between accepting Melancholia & Merciless or becoming some lost person like Jekyll, which is a struggle that was manipulated by Mercedes to fully devour both Plaisir and Melancholia, becoming the "true Melancholia" and starts the Dark Curse as Moloch originally planned.

Merciless is also devoted fully to Moloch and serves him with zealous feelings, unlike both Plaisir and Melancholia that shows contempt to Moloch and only served him out of fear. Merciless is exactly what Plaisir would become if she stopped struggling and putting her grudge against Moloch aside - a obedient and mindless slave to Moloch who would do anything for the vile demon king, regardless what he did to her family and her friends. This would eventually make Plaisir betray her own kind and become a dark creature no less evil than Moloch.

56296745 p0

Merciless getting serious

Merciless is also revealed to be Moloch's eyes on Plaisir, as she was merged with a piece of Moloch's soul shard. In another words, Moloch was observing the actions of Plaisir / Melancholia through Merciless, who was unknowingly existed inside Plaisir. Moloch knew Plaisir was about to back-stab him, but he planned to take down Plaisir as soon as he started his reign of terror on Earth. This was revealed by Merciless once she revealed herself and threatened to kill Plaisir. Melancholia is the only person beside Moloch to know about Merciless' existence, but she had full control and thus never mentioned Merciless, but even Melancholia never know that Merciless is Moloch's eye inside Plaisir's body.

In the end, in spite of accepting Melancholia as herself, due to Melancholia's maturity, wisdom and realistic view, Plaisir refuse to accept Merciless as herself since Merciless represents the servility towards Moloch she and Melancholia tried to deny. Plaisir cannot let her hatred to Moloch go, much less do she serve him as his slave, or more people would get hurt and the world will become much worse. Due to unable to destroy Merciless without having herself killed, Plaisir chose to purify Melancholia and merge with the latter so that she can have power to seal Merciless into Hell, something that Merciless failed to see since she believed herself to be invincible. Therefore, she used Emma Swan's purification spell to purify Melancholia, cast Merciless out of the latter's body and merged with the latter, before casting Merciless into Hell and make her to endure eternal torture, finally freeing herself from her even-darker-side's torment and cutting off all her ties with Moloch's forces.

Unlike the original Melancholia, Merciless lacks of empathy, and therefore she is pure evil with no salvation as well as hope. Turning into a beings of malevolence fueled with hatred itself, the serum Melancholia attempted to take over Plaisir once again by reenact the events that drove her host into insanity, an act that even disgusted the original Melancholia but later the Team Witness managed to cast Mercedes back into Hell, leaving her good counterpart living happily ever after alongside Melancholia co-existing with her.

History[]

LOTM: Crossover - The Corbin Files[]

Chairwoman

Melancholia, while looking at FOLIE's cocoon

Melancholia first appeared in her underwater facility beneath Atlantic Ocean, and she was observing the artificial monster known as FOLIE, made from the flesh and bones of the victims that Michael killed.

At this time, the 2036 Melancholia was already taken over by her past self which fell in love with Michael. She also ruthlessly killed one of her minions merely because he did not wake her up on time, and soon she heard a report from a messenger from Moloch. She was pleased to know about Michael's success, and she was very interested on Carl Robinson, whom she referred as Firenza Junior.

Feigning her loyalty with Moloch while concealing her disgust to the demon, Melancholia assured that she remained her loyalty to Moloch before sending the demon away. Then, she turned to her premature creation before she gloated at how much destruction it would make, and she planned to drown the whole world within the tide.

After he became the Pope, Michael went to Neo-Hellfire facility and Melancholia showed him their creation. Michael was very pleased with that, and vowed to Melancholia that they shall bring a new order out of chaos. Melancholia then officially became a Mother Superior. Secretly, however, Michael planted a part of his soul inside Melancholia in order to make her deluded with a "Michael Langdon" persona and feeling as if Michael was always there beside her.

Firenza Junior spin-off[]

Melancholia as Mother Superior

Melancholia is the main antagonist in Firenza Junior spin-off.

After becoming Mother Superior, Melancholia posed herself as a dark judge and participated the medieval torture used by Neo Inquisition on their rivals and prisoners. She spared many people who claimed Michael was brainwashed by Aleister Crowley on their own free will, while those who claimed Michael was a fiendish tyrant shall face her torture and execution.

Melancholia did this in order to preserve Michael's False Hero reputation and push everything (including Vatican's fallen) on Aleister Crowley, so that Michael will escape punishment if KnightWalker Family was lost, letting Crowley to take the blame. Ironically, Crowley was completely unaware for Michael and Melancholia's plan to let him take the blame.

After Carissa escorted a captured Carl Robinson to Neo Inquisition, a masked Melancholia started to question Carl and revealed the murder of the corrupt Duke Firenza - Carl's true father, while mocking Carl being a foolish royalty who did not know his parentage at all.

Melancholia then left the room, leaving her minions to torture Carl until Erica Butcher - Matt's sister and Carl's love one who worked for Global Pact Defense - broke in and saved him. Melancholia chased them and attacked them, but she failed. Looking at the two people running away, Melancholia then started to feel her head hurt when recalling her friends being killed by Moloch. Even so, her villainy overwhelmed her coincidence once again, and then she started to make a brainwashed Biagio Busoni into her puppet by giving him the Hessian mark, turning him into a dark cultist working for Neo-Hellfire. During this time, Melancholia talks to Michael's shadow within her deluded mind, and "Michael" promised her to bring Eckidina KnightWalker's downfall with Moloch's power before they both overthrow Moloch and rule the Earth together. Believing it was the Pope's own wish, Melancholia smiled. However, for others, they only thought that the Mother Superior was telling to herself.

Meanwhile, Aleister Crowley had given her the Pope's order via phone, telling her to attack the Eastern Orthodox Church members who planned to overthrown the New USSR, before going to Aldgeyr Kingdom and help them to capture La Folia - which was a prologue of Michael's plan to weaken the Orthodox Church and to pact with Kanon Rihavein & King Hamdo. What is more, Patriarch Krans was one of the wise people who believed that Michael was behind all of the chaos in Europe 1 week ago.

Seizing a chance to make a difference, Melancholia was glad to accept the mission, but when she arrived at her destination, Ukraine, her "Michael Langdon" persona started to take over her, making her deluded. She believed that herself was Michael and started to dress up as his "Unknown Grand Grimoire Figure" persona in order to attack the Orthodox clergies.

1G04H14B7

Melancholia after turning into her final demon form after injecting Carl Robinson's blood (enhanced with Croatoan Virus)

However, the Patriarch had defeated her and unknowingly erased her "Michael" persona for a while. Upon realizing she was dressed up like Michael and played his role all along, Melancholia screamed and fled. After that, she felt too ashamed to face the real Michael and began waiting in Syberia for her chance to kill the young Patriarch, but then she was delighted since she spotted that Carl and Erica was in Russia as well, with Carl went missing and Erica was under the Patriarch's protection.

Description[]

Etymology[]

AvengerJeanneAlterStage3

The future Melancholia, while confronting Carl Robinson.

The name "melancholia" comes from the old medical belief of the four humors: disease or ailment being caused by an imbalance in one or other of the four basic bodily liquids, or humors. Personality types were similarly determined by the dominant humor in a particular person. According to Hippocrates and subsequent tradition, melancholia was caused by an excess of black bile, hence the name, which means "black bile", from Ancient Greek μέλας (melas), "dark, black", and χολή (kholé), "bile"; a person whose constitution tended to have a preponderance of black bile had a melancholic disposition. In the complex elaboration of humorist theory, it was associated with the earth from the Four Elements, the season of autumn, the spleen as the originating organ and cold and dry as related qualities. In astrology it showed the influence of Saturn, hence the related adjective saturnine.

Melancholia was described as a distinct disease with particular mental and physical symptoms in the 5th and 4th centuries BC. Hippocrates, in his Aphorisms, characterized all "fears and despondency, if they last a long time" as being symptomatic of melancholia. When a patient could not be cured of the disease it was thought that the melancholia was a result of demonic possession.

In his study of French and Burgundian courtly culture, Johan Huizinga noted that "at the close of the Middle Ages, a somber melancholy weighs on people's souls." In chronicles, poems, sermons, even in legal documents, an immense sadness, a note of despair and a fashionable sense of suffering and deliquescence at the approaching end of times, suffuses court poets and chroniclers alike: Huizinga quotes instances in the ballads of Eustache Deschamps, "monotonous and gloomy variations of the same dismal theme", and in Georges Chastellain's prologue to his Burgundian chronicle, and in the late fifteenth-century poetry of Jean Meschinot. Ideas of reflection and the workings of imagination are blended in the term merencolie, embodying for contemporaries "a tendency", observes Huizinga, "to identify all serious occupation of the mind with sadness".

Painters were considered by Vasari and other writers to be especially prone to melancholy by the nature of their work, sometimes with good effects for their art in increased sensitivity and use of fantasy. Among those of his contemporaries so characterized by Vasari were Pontormo and Parmigianino, but he does not use the term of Michelangelo, who used it, perhaps not very seriously, of himself. A famous allegorical engraving by Albrecht Dürer is entitled Melancholia I. This engraving has been interpreted as portraying melancholia as the state of waiting for inspiration to strike, and not necessarily as a depressive affliction. Amongst other allegorical symbols, the picture includes a magic square and a truncated rhombohedron. The image in turn inspired a passage in The City of Dreadful Night by James Thomson (B.V.), and, a few years later, a sonnet by Edward Dowden.

Quotes[]

  • "Let me ask you something, what does it matter if you send me back to Purgatory if it doesn't matter to me? I've proved my point. Firenza Junior's been driven mad. I've demonstrated there's no difference between me and everyone else."
  • "All it takes is one bad day, Arzonia... That's how far the world is from where I am, just one bad day. You had a bad day once, am I right? Oh, I know I am. I can tell. You had a bad day and everything changed. Dressing up like a armored bird doesn't hide it. It screams it."
  • "Is that Grimoire or Grimoires? For me, the answer is clear. There are MORE THAN ONE Grand Grimoires. Michael now has one of them, but where are the rest? Never mind. As long as we have this version with the Prophecy of Tribulations, we will know everything coming into our way."
  • "However, despite Michael's indifference of the other Grand Grimoires, I am, currently, still obsessed on finding them.I believed some of them were burned down in Salem Witch Trials and/or Auto-da-fé, at that time people were in sheer frenzy. Ignorance ruins innocence..."
  • "As for myself, there is nothing to worry about. As long as Lord Moloch exists, I shall never ever be ignorant. My future self was so foolish that she joined Triggers Hell and got the Grand Grimoire, but possessing her and merging with her memories means making myself to learn more things she knows that I was yet to know."
  • "You had a bad day and it drove you as crazy as everybody else, only you won't admit it. You have to keep pretending that life makes sense, that there's some point to all this struggling."
  • "People never need reason. They need excuse! That excuse often comes from that one bad day! I know you have, as much as I had. I hate to remember that day, and I made up lies to cover that. Therefore, if I really had one bad day, I dare doubt it is composed by multiple catalysts."
  • "Without knowing why, I began to enjoy people cry and with tears of sadness on their face. Building my own happiness on others' sadness, that wasn't supposed to happened, but the queer things is... It made me happy... What is wrong with me? What is W-R-O-N-G with me?"
  • "This is not the true happiness I wanted! Moloch made me into this... I had no choice but becoming his servant, thus making him my master, but in fact... I really hate him. That's no wonder why my future self had left him without carrying on his legacy. That's no wonder why my future self was not defeated by Team Witness. She was preaching to the converted."
  • "You may started to hate me, but sadly, this is who I am, and as long as I can see Michael smile, I will do anything for him! For years, I helped Michael to conceal evidence by making the corpses of our victims into bio-weapons, especially into our masterpiece - FOLIE, which is our mightiest work to recreate the Great Flood! However, this time there shall be no Noah's Ark."
  • "Since Moloch burned my friends to make me join him, I started to hate fire. So, I am gonna use water, the greatest foe of fire, to wipe out humanity's disgrace and corruption. The KnightWalker Family? They'll drown. Stalinists? Nazis? Fascists? Imperialists? They'll all drown, and the world will eventually bow down to us into a world full of purity and peace... and then WE WON'T NEED MOLOCH ANYMORE. We will dump him like a trash and rule the world ourselves."
  • ""M" was for the murderous look she gave me. "O" meant only that she was weak and old. "T" is for her terror as she fought Moloch. "H" is for her heart, which is now lost. "E" is for her eyes, swiftly dimming. "R" means rot, and soon rotting she will be. Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER", a word that is now a corpse to me. Happy Mother's Day, Mommy."
  • "My point is... I... Went... Crazy! And I'm smart enough to admit it. Why can't you?! Everything anybody's ever valued of struggled for, it's monstrous! Why can't you see the depressing side? WHY AREN'T YOU CRYING!?"
  • "Well, well, well, and on today of all days, do you remember my early work? It's flawed but still promising, just like you, Firenza Junior. Staring with the seasons, and moving through the weeks, I became stronger. My work will be more elaborated. Days were the secrets, Firenza Junior, and the End of Days is coming. I was there at your beginning, and I will be there at your end."

Trivia[]

  • Like Maria, Melancholia was improvised during the progress of The Corbin Files.
    • The name "Melancholia" was once derived from a fake list of the cast on the sixth season of America Horror Story (now known as Roanoke) with rumors that Lady Gaga would portray a opera-singing fairy known as "Melancholia". This list was later proved to be faked, but given the influence of American Horror Story on LOTM: Witnesses of Sleepy Hollow, this name was eventually used to construct a melodramatic fairy villain, serving as the right-hand of Michael Langdon, who was also named after and inspired by a character in American Horror Story franchise.
  • Rather than just a split personality born from Plaisir's despair, Melancholia was prone to be a manifestation of Plaisir's need of revenge and security. That's why she was fixated to Michael, who was regarded as a mere benefactor to Plaisir, even to the point of fantasizing about having sexual relationship with him.
  • The Supreme Croatoan Form of Melancholia was inspired by Yuki-onna, literally means "Snow Woman" in English, which was a creature in Japanese mythology.
  • Because of her trauma, Melancholia has a slight pyrophobia, making her dislike bombing and preferring to flood the world with water. This was also amplified in her Final Boss fight, where she repeatedly shouting at Maria Arzonia about how much she hate fire and tried to extinguished with wind, ice and snow.
  • Melancholia was partly based on the infamous Queen Mary I of England (right; known to historians as "Bloody Mary") since she reflected the latter's ruthless, wrath and obsessive personality.
  • Melancholia is a good opera singer, and she sings her song while engaged a fight, mostly an operatic style.
  • She is obsessed with origami arts and could make origami models into real things.
  • Despite being ruthless and chaotic, Melancholia hated Eckidina KnightWalker, Junko Enoshima, Terra of the Left and Hiragi Kureto very much.
  • She believed a theory that art of paper folding was originated in Ancient China before arriving at Japan during Tang Dynasty and spawn the birth of Japanese origami.
  • Even though NOT being a Complete Monster at first, no doubt that Melancholia is one of the darkest villainesses ever within the entire LOTM: Witnesses of Sleepy Hollow storyline. However, after splitting from her good side, the serum Melancholia (revealed to be another Malice of Moloch) had become one Complete Monster after losing all her positive qualities without Plaisir straining her.
  • Melancholia could be compared to Harley Quinn who desired her master's love but eventually got severely abused/back-stabbed.
  • Melancholia is the first delusional villainess appears in LOTM: Witnesses of Sleepy Hollow storyline, as she believes herself is a righteous person within a corrupt world she wants to purge.
  • Originally, Serum Melancholia was set to be a irredeemable sadist, being one and the same with Melancholia, and would be completely defeated by Plaisir. However, this was scrapped as Serum Melancholia (renamed as Mercedes the Merciless) became a third personality for Plaisir, parred with the Malice of Moloch, while the original Melancholia redeemed herself and fought against Moloch's Moloch due to being disgusted by the crime caused by Merciless.

Nikolai Yezhov[]

Ежов Николай Иванович 1895-1939

Nikolai Ivanovich Yezhov (Russian: Никола́й Ива́нович Ежо́в, tr. IPA, IPA: [nʲɪkɐˈɫaj jɪˈʐof]; May 1, 1895 – February 4, 1940) was a Soviet secret police official under Joseph Stalin who was head of the NKVD from 1936 to 1938, during the most active period of the Great Purge.

He became People's Commissar for Internal Affairs (head of the NKVD) and a member of the Central Committee on September 26, 1936, following the dismissal of Genrikh Yagoda. This appointment did not at first seem to suggest an intensification of the purge: "Unlike Yagoda, Yezhov did not come out of the 'organs,' which was considered an advantage." Yagoda became a target because he had been suspected of killing innocents and protecting anti-soviet conspirators by the NKVD. Party leadership revoking and executions of those found guilty during the Moscow Trials was not a problem for Yezhov, granted he himself was later found guilty of the same actions Yagoda had been doing beforehand. Seeming to be a devout admirer of Stalin and not a member of the organs of state security, Yezhov was just the man Stalin needed to lead the NKVD and rid the government of potential opponents.

Yezhov's first task from Stalin was to personally investigate and conduct the prosecution of his long-time Chekist mentor Yagoda, which he did with remorseless zeal. Ordered by Stalin to create a suitably grandiose plot for Yagoda's show trial, Yezhov ordered the NKVD to sprinkle mercury on the curtains of his office so that the physical evidence could be collected and used to support the charge that Yagoda was a German spy, sent to assassinate Yezhov and Stalin with poison and restore capitalism.[12] It's also claimed that he personally tortured both Yagoda and Marshal Mikhail Tukhachevsky to extract their confessions.

Having presided over mass arrests and executions during the Great Purge, Yezhov eventually fell from Stalin's favor and power. He was arrested, confessed to a range of anti-Soviet activity, later claiming he was tortured into making these confessions, and was executed in 1940.

Diego de Landa[]

Diego de Landa

Diego de Landa Calderón, O.F.M. (12 November 1524 – 29 April 1579) was a Spanish bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Yucatán. Historians describe him as a cruel and fanatical priest who led a violent campaign against idolatry. In particular, he burned almost all the Mayan manuscripts (codices) that would have been very useful in deciphering Mayan script, knowledge of Maya religion and civilization, and the history of the American continent.

After hearing of Roman Catholic Maya who continued to practice idol worship, Landa ordered an Inquisition in Mani, ending with a ceremony called auto de fé. During the ceremony on July 12, 1562, a disputed number of Maya codices (according to Landa, 27 books) and approximately 5000 Maya cult images were burned. The actions of Landa passed into the Black Legend of the Spanish in the Americas.

Only three pre-Columbian books of Maya hieroglyphics (also known as a codex) and, perhaps, fragments of a fourth are known to have survived. Collectively, the works are known as the Maya codices.

Landa's Inquisition showered a level of physical abuse upon the indigenous Maya that many viewed as excessive and was, at the very least, unusual. Scores of Maya nobles were jailed pending interrogation, and large numbers of Maya nobles and commoners were subjected to examination under "hoisting." During hoisting, a victim's hands were bound and looped over an extended line that was then raised until the victim's entire body was suspended in the air. Often, stone weights were added to the ankles or lashes applied to the back during interrogation.

Some contemporary observers were troubled by this widespread use of torture. Crown fiat had earlier exempted indigenous peoples from the authority of the Inquisition, on the grounds that their understanding of Christianity was "too childish" for them to be held culpable for heresies. Additionally, Landa dispensed with much of the extensive formal procedure and documentation that accompanied Spanish torture and interrogation. Scholars have argued that Mexican inquisitions showed little concern to eradicate magic or convict individuals for heterodox beliefs[3] and that witchcraft was treated more as a religious problem capable of being resolved by confession and absolution. Landa, however, perhaps inspired by intolerant fellow Franciscan Cardenal, Cisneros, from the same Toledo convent, was "monomaniacal in his fervor"[4] against it. Landa believed a huge underground network of apostasies,[5] led by displaced indigenous priests, were jealous of the power the Church enjoyed and sought to reclaim it for themselves. The apostates, Landa surmised, had launched a counteroffensive against the Church, and he believed it was his duty to expose the evil before it could revert the population to their old heathen ways.

Landa claimed that he had discovered evidence of human sacrifice and other idolatrous practices while rooting out native idolatry. Although one of the alleged victims of said sacrifices, Mani Encomendero Dasbatés, was later found to be alive, and Landa's enemies contested his right to run an inquisition, Landa insisted a papal bull, Exponi nobis, justified his actions.

However, Lopez de Cogolludo, Landa's chief Franciscan biographer, wrote of Landa's firsthand experiences with human sacrifices. When Landa first came to the Yucatán, he made it his mission to walk the breadth of the peninsula and preach to the most remote villages. While passing through Cupules, he came upon a group of 300 about to sacrifice a young boy. Enraged, Landa stormed through the crowd, released the boy, smashed the idols and began preaching with such zeal and sincerity that they begged him to remain in the land and teach them more.

Ivan the Terrible[]

Ivan-IV-Vasilyevich

Ivan IV Vasilyevich (Russian: Ива́н Васи́льевич, tr. Ivan Vasilyevich; 25 August 1530 – 28 March [O.S. 18 March] 1584), commonly known as Ivan the Terrible or Ivan the Fearsome (Russian: About this sound Ива́н Гро́зный (help·info), Ivan Grozny; a better translation into modern English would be Ivan the Formidable), was the Grand Prince of Moscow from 1533 to 1547, then "Tsar of All the Russias" until his death in 1584. The last title was used by all his successors.

During his reign, Russia conquered the Khanates of Kazan, Astrakhan and Sibir, becoming a multi-ethnic and multi-continental state spanning approximately 4,050,000 km2 (1,560,000 sq mi). He exercised autocratic control over Russia's hereditary nobility and developed a bureaucracy to administer the new territories. He transformed Russia from a medieval state into an empire, though at immense cost to its people, and its broader, long-term economy.

Historic sources present disparate accounts of Ivan's complex personality: he was described as intelligent and devout, yet given to rages and prone to episodic outbreaks of mental instability[3] that increased with his age. In one such outburst, he killed his son and heir Ivan Ivanovich. This left his younger son, the pious but politically ineffectual Feodor Ivanovich, to inherit the throne.

Ivan was an able diplomat, a patron of arts and trade, and founder of the Moscow Print Yard, Russia's first publishing house. He was popular among Russia's commoners (see Ivan the Terrible in Russian folklore), except possibly the people of Novgorod and surrounding areas (see "Massacre of Novgorod"), and he is also noted for his paranoia and harsh treatment of the Russian nobility.

Queen Mary I of England[]

Maria Tudor1

Mary I (18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558) was the Queen of England and Ireland from July 1553 until her death. Her executions of Protestants led to the posthumous sobriquet "Bloody Mary". She was the only child of Henry VIII by his first wife Catherine of Aragon to survive to adulthood. Her younger half-brother Edward VI (son of Henry and Jane Seymour) succeeded their father in 1547.

When Edward became mortally ill in 1553, he attempted to remove Mary from the line of succession because of religious differences. On his death their first cousin once removed, Lady Jane Grey, was proclaimed queen. Mary assembled a force in East Anglia and deposed Jane, who was ultimately beheaded. Mary was—excluding the disputed reigns of Jane and the Empress Matilda—the first queen regnant of England. In 1554, Mary married Philip of Spain, becoming queen consort of Habsburg Spain on his accession in 1556.

Mary is remembered for her restoration of Roman Catholicism after her half-brother's short-lived Protestant reign. During her five-year reign, she had over 280 religious dissenters burned at the stake in the Marian persecutions. After her death in 1558, her re-establishment of Roman Catholicism was reversed by her younger half-sister and successor Elizabeth I, daughter of Henry and Anne Boleyn.

Jiang Qing[]

Jiang Qing 1976

Jiang Qing (Chinese: 江青; Wade–Giles: Chiang Ch'ing, March 19, 1914 – May 14, 1991) was a Chinese actress and a major political figure during the Cultural Revolution (1966–76). She was the fourth wife of Mao Zedong, the Chairman of the Communist Party and Paramount leader of China. She used the stage name Lan Ping (蓝苹) during her acting career, and was known by many other names. She married Mao in Yan'an in November 1938 and served as the inaugural "First Lady" of the People's Republic of China. Jiang Qing was best known for playing a major role in the Cultural Revolution and for forming the radical political alliance known as the "Gang of Four".

Jiang Qing served as Mao's personal secretary in the 1940s and was head of the Film Section of the Communist Party's Propaganda Department in the 1950s. She served as an important emissary for Mao in the early stages of the Cultural Revolution. In 1966 she was appointed deputy director of the Central Cultural Revolution Group. She collaborated with Lin Biao to advance Mao's unique brand of Communist ideology as well as Mao's cult of personality. At the height of the Cultural Revolution, Jiang Qing held significant influence in the affairs of state, particularly in the realm of culture and the arts, and was idolized in propaganda posters as the "Great Flagbearer of the Proletarian Revolution". In 1969, Jiang gained a seat on the Politburo.

Before Mao's death, the Gang of Four controlled many of China's political institutions, including the media and propaganda. However, Jiang Qing, deriving most of her political legitimacy from Mao, often found herself at odds with other top leaders. Mao's death in 1976 dealt a significant blow to Jiang Qing's political fortunes. She was arrested in October 1976 by Hua Guofeng and his allies, and was subsequently condemned by party authorities. Since then, Jiang Qing has been officially branded as having been part of the "Lin Biao and Jiang Qing Counter-Revolutionary Clique" (林彪江青反革命集团), to which most of the blame for the damage and devastation caused by the Cultural Revolution was assigned. Though she was initially sentenced to death, her sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in 1983. After being released for medical treatment, Jiang Qing committed suicide in May 1991.

Catherine de' Medici[]

Catherine-de-medici

Catherine de' Medici (Italian: Caterina de' Medici pronounced [kateˈriːna de ˈmɛːditʃi]; French: Catherine de Médicis pronounced: [katʁin də medisis], 13 April 1519 – 5 January 1589), daughter of Lorenzo II de' Medici and of Madeleine de La Tour d'Auvergne, was an Italian noblewoman who was Queen of France from 1547 until 1559, as the wife of King Henry II. As the mother of three sons who became kings of France during her lifetime, she had extensive, if at times varying, influence in the political life of France. For a time, she ruled France as its regent.

In 1533, at the age of fourteen, Caterina married Henry, second son of King Francis I and Queen Claude of France. Under the gallicised version of her name, Catherine de Médicis, she was Queen consort of France as the wife of King Henry II of France from 1547 to 1559. Throughout his reign, Henry excluded Catherine from participating in state affairs and instead showered favors on his chief mistress, Diane de Poitiers, who wielded much influence over him. Henry's death thrust Catherine into the political arena as mother of the frail fifteen-year-old King Francis II. When he died in 1560, she became regent on behalf of her ten-year-old son King Charles IX and was granted sweeping powers. After Charles died in 1574, Catherine played a key role in the reign of her third son, Henry III. He dispensed with her advice only in the last months of her life.

Catherine's three sons reigned in an age of almost constant civil and religious war in France. The problems facing the monarchy were complex and daunting but Catherine was able to keep the monarchy and the state institutions functioning even at a minimum level. At first, Catherine compromised and made concessions to the rebelling Protestants, or Huguenots, as they became known. She failed, however, to grasp the theological issues that drove their movement. Later she resorted, in frustration and anger, to hard-line policies against them. In return, she came to be blamed for the excessive persecutions carried out under her sons' rule, in particular for the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre of 1572, in which thousands of Huguenots were killed in Paris and throughout France.

Fictional Inspirations[]

Lacarde Dragneel[]

Larcade Appearance Anime

Larcade Dragneel is a major antagonist from the manga/anime series Fairy Tail. He is a member of the Spriggan 12 and is said to be the third strongest member, behind Irene Belserion and August.

Originally believed to be the son of Zeref Dragneel and Mavis Vermilion, he is actually one of the many Etherious created by Zeref. Due to being the strongest of his failed creations, he was given the surname Dragneel, essentially making him the prototype of E.N.D.

Larcade is shown to be a very peaceful and enlighten person, but can be very irresponsible as he doesn't attend Spriggan 12 meetings as noted by Invel Yura. He looks up to his his creator, Zeref, very dearly, going as far as to referring him as his father.

His loyalty is strong not just for Zeref, but for the Alvarez Empire as a whole as he treats his comrades with the same amount of compassion and is willing to aid them in need. Due to his love for Zeref, he holds a great jealousy towards Natsu Dragneel, who Zeref treasures dearly and feels that Zeref tends to neglect him over his brother.

He also possesses an arrogant side believing himself to be the ultimate mage capable of defeating the Dragon King, Acnologia. Despite this and along with his composed nature, he has shown to emotionally weak as he broke down in tears when Zeref attacked him and claimed that Larcade was nothing more but just another one of his failed creations.

Mozgus[]

Mozgus AV

Mozgus (モズグス Mozugusu) was one of the Chief Inquisitors of the Holy See, traveling the world with his group of torturers, having been sent to root out a violent cult of heretics in the city of Albion. He is the main antagonist of the Conviction Arc in Berserk, hindering Guts' efforts in saving Casca with his excessive religious zeal. His symbol is four breaking wheels, embodying his willingness to use torture as a way to "cleanse people from evil".

Mozgus is an extremely devout man whose faith ventures into fanaticism. He is completely dedicated to the Holy See and an ardent follower of "God". He greatly emphasizes his religion in everything he does and acts with great zeal in his quest to purge the world of "heretics". He travels with his torturers, whom he respects and treats as his children.

Mozgus portrays himself as a considerably dangerous man and is known and feared around the world. He possesses an intense proclivity towards the use of torture to "purify" those he sees as heretical and is infamous for using painful and varied forms of execution. He has tried and questioned hundreds using his brutal and intense methods of religious interrogation, but only a traumatized few have lived through the treatment. Mozgus is highly sensitive towards anyone who would "claim" God's will such as when he brutally killed a rebel for saying he would be punished by God for his acts of carnage.

Despite appearing sadistic and bloodthirsty to most who do not know him personally, Mozgus does not necessarily like torturing and executing people for heresy. He feels no guilt for his actions as he believes it is for the peoples' own good. In his mind, torturing a person in the name of God is a necessary and sacred act; he views it as the only method of turning non-believers towards the light of the Lord. This is especially shown during his parable of the nun and the dying man, where he teaches Farnese that the religious have a mission to help others, and that as long as one has good intentions they cannot be blamed if their attempts to help have negative consequences.

Mozgus shows a kind side towards the downtrodden, sick, poor, misshapen and deformed as his personal torturers are those he personally recruited in his travels despite their rejection from the rest of the world. Father Mozgus does not fear death in the slightest and demonstrates immense valor, such as when he and his torturers were cornered by the physical malice in the Tower of Conviction. When he is finally killed by Guts, he expresses no cowardice or fear, instead feeling joy in the fact that he will finally be able to be with God in "heaven".

Ra's al-Ghul[]

Ra's Al Ghul 0002.jpg

Ra's al Ghul is one of the main antagonists in the Batman series. He is probably one of the most intelligent and mysterious villains that Batman ever faced, since he is nearly immortal and legendary. Not much is known about him, which gives him the advantage in a confrontation.

He is the recurring antagonist in Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Young Justice, and Beware the Batman, the main antagonist of Superman: The Animated Series episode "The Demon Reborn", the main antagonist in Batman Beyond episode "Out of the Past", the main antagonist of the 2005 film Batman Begins, an antagonist of the 2010 animated direct-to-video film Batman: Under the Red Hood, and the posthumous antagonist in the 2012 live action film The Dark Knight Rises. In the comics he is the main villain of storylines that involved the Bat-Family and sometimes the stories in the Justice League stories as well.

Little is specifically known of the early years of the nearly immortal Ra’s Al Ghul, whose name means “the demon's head”, but it is known that he has lived for many centuries due to Lazarus Pits, mystical and alchemical brews that restore his youth. A capable master of strategy and organization, Ra’s Al Ghul’s goal is to save the Earth from ecological devastation by destroying most of its population.

He recognized Batman as both a worthy foe and a possible ally – except that Batman cannot accept his dystopic worldview. Batman also shares a love-hate relationship with Ra’s daughter, the beautiful Talia. (Note: Talia appears in Batman: Arkham City) Ra's heads the sinister terrorist group known as the League of Assassins which he uses to wreak havoc worldwide.

Brides of Dracula[]

Dorothy Tree, Geraldine Dvorak, and Cornelia Thaw as Dracula’s brides in Dracula (1931), directed by Tod Browning

The Brides of Dracula are secondary antagonists in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula. They are three seductive female vampire "sisters" who reside with Count Dracula in his castle in Transylvania, where they entrance male humans with their beauty and charm, and then proceed to feed upon them. Dracula provides them with victims to devour, mainly infants and children. Like Dracula, they are the living dead, repulsed by religious objects. In chapter three of the novel, two are described as dark haired and the other as blonde. In the novel the three vampire women are not individually named. Collectively, they are known as the "sisters", and are at one point described as the "weird sisters".

One of the three may have been identified in the short story Dracula's Guest as the vampire named Countess Dolengen of Gratz. Since Jonathan Harker is suggested to be the protagonist of the story he encounters her at her tomb in Munich which Dracula protects him from; saving his life from the vampire as well as, in the form of a great wolf, keeping him warm from the cold and yelping for nearby soldiers to come to their location. In the Dracula novel Harker writes about one of the female vampires in the moment he is with them stating, "I seemed somehow to know her face, and to know it in connection with some dreamy fear, but I could not recollect at the moment how or where."

Although the three vampire women in Dracula are popularly referred to as the "Brides of Dracula", they are never referred to as such in the novel, instead referred to as the 'sisters'; whether they are married to Dracula or not is never mentioned, nor are they described as having any other relation to him. Though it is mentioned by the sisters that Dracula does not love, nor has he ever loved them, the count himself claims he too can love and asked them if they remember his love from the past. The two dark-haired women, however, are described by Jonathan Harker to have "high aquiline noses, like the Count's".

It has been suggested from this that it may have been Stoker's intent that these two are Dracula's daughters, extending the sexuality metaphor of vampirism to incest. Even though it is never specified/made clear, it is possible that the term "sister" wasn't meant in the literal sense and is, instead, more comparable to the relationship of the women and not as they are to Dracula. As they are also depicted in the novel calling Mina Harker their sister after she was forced to drink the blood of Dracula and being afflicted with signs of vampirism herself. Mina and Lucy also call each other sisters in the novel despite not having any blood relation. Despite their words, the sisters have oddly never been recorded by the protagonists of the novel to have followed Dracula's orders without question. Dracula is angry at them for disobeying his commands by trying to feed on Jonathan, but he does show that he cares somewhat for them by offering them something to eat in the form of the contents of the "wiggling bag", and honors his promise to give them Harker when he leaves, though it is not revealed why he leaves them behind in Transylvania rather than taking them to London with him.

As vampires, the sisters are powerful in their own right; their beauty and playful charm belie lethal, predatory interiors. Their beauty and flirtatious manner appears to be their greatest power when it comes to bewitching their victims into a trance-like state. Harker and Van Helsing are both attracted to, and yet repulsed by them. They can seemingly appear out of nowhere and are inhumanly strong as shown when they kill Van Helsing's horses and are seen flying in the air with their dresses trailing behind them. They apparently do not live in fear of Dracula, as they disobey his orders not to feed on Harker before the house transaction is finished. The blond vampire can be seen defying him when she demands to feed upon Harker and they openly tease Dracula that he "never loves". One of the brunette vampires encourages the blond to feed on Harker first, saying ‘Go on! You are first, and we shall follow. Yours is the right to begin.’ depicting her to have some sort of status over the others. This may suggest that she could be his wife or consort; aiding this theory is the fact that when Harker comes across their sleeping quarters, he finds her tomb to be more opulent, as if meant for a loved one. As such there's a possibility that the blonde is the mother of the two dark-haired females, if they are indeed his daughters, but this is speculation. However, considering how easily Dracula was able to knock away the bride that almost fed on Harker, it is likely that Dracula is stronger than them and could dispatch of them if he wished which may be why the brides never attempted to try and directly challenge him. There is also some speculation that, despite their demeanor towards him, they may retain some love for him since they've never tried to leave the castle. The fact that Dracula promises them Harker when he leaves and gives them the "wiggling bag" leads some credence that Dracula likewise still cares for them.

The brides serve as foreshadowing for the threat of vampirism in the story which, as seen with Lucy Westenra later on, includes his power of corruption over his victims once he has drained their blood and made them into vampires. It's fairly likely that the three women were previous victims of his, and are examples of his desire to make more Vampires like himself.

Avenger/Joan Alter[]

AvengerJeanneAlterStage3

Avenger/Joan Alter's True Name is Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) (ジャンヌ・ダルク〔オルタ〕, Jan'nu Daruku (Oruta)?), also known as Jeanne Alter (ジャンヌ・オルタ, Jan'nu Oruta?), the Altered version of Jeanne d'Arc. Although designated an Alter, it does not mean that she is a different aspect of Jeanne d'Arc. A Jeanne of vengeance that Gilles de Rais, the French Army's marshal who grieved for Jeanne d'Arc's death, fabricated by means of the Holy Grail shortly after the execution of Jeanne in 1431. As a Heroic Spirit that is an exact opposite of the proper Jeanne, she is manifesting in the Avenger Class.

Since the proper Jeanne is not a hero, but a saint, the possibility of "summoning a different aspect of her" is nil. Because this black Jeanne has Gilles de Rais' anger... the prejudices and wishes for her to be like that... mixed in with her fundamental parts, a "side" that should never happen ended up being brought to the surface. As such, one can think that this Jeanne d'Arc is mostly made up by Gilles de Rais' prejudices; an existence encapsulating much of the corrupted Gilles' biases and feelings. The Dragon Witch that resurrected for the sake of getting vengeance against France. A holy woman who talks about justice as if she owned the place and, without having any doubts about that, is spurred on by the wrath against the people; that is the form which Gilles de Rais wished her to be like.

Regina Mills / Evil Queen (Dark Half)[]

Once Upon a Time - 6x03 - The Other Shoe - Photography - Regina 2

Queen Regina Mills, also known as the Evil Queen, is one of the main antagonists of Once Upon A Time, serving as the secondary antagonist of the Season 5 finale, and the main antagonist of the first half of Season 6. She is the evil half of Regina Mills, which becomes briefly separated from her during the sixth season.

In the finale of season 5, Regina used Dr. Jekyll's separation formula to get rid of The Evil Queen, just like how Jekyll got rid of Mr. Hyde. She thought she killed the Evil Queen, but in reality she survived and swore revenge upon Storybrooke. Her former identity in the Fairy Tale World is Snow White's evil stepmother, and serves as the main antagonist of the Fairy Tale Land flashbacks.

With the restoration of Emma's belief and the end of the final battle, the Enchanted Forest is brought back, including the Queen. She continues living in the palace, and while brushing her hair at the dresser, she receives an arrow from Robin with a note and a ring attached to it. Surprised, she unrolls it, happily reading Robin's marriage proposal to her.

She was portrayed by Lana Parrilla, who portrays her regular counterpart, Regina Mills.

Bellatrix Lestrange[]

BellatrixLestrange

Bellatrix Lestrange (née Black) (1951 – 2 May 1998) is a major antagonist in Harry Potter series, being the secondary antagonist in Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. She was a pure-blood witch, the eldest daughter of Cygnus Black III and Druella Black (née Rosier) and elder sister of Andromeda Tonks and Narcissa Malfoy. She was a member of the House of Black, an old wizarding family and one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. Bellatrix started her education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1962 and was Sorted into Slytherin House.

After graduating from Hogwarts she became a Death Eater. She was fanatically loyal to Lord Voldemort and was among the most dangerous and sadistic of Voldemort's followers. While Bellatrix and Narcissa married pure-blood wizards, Andromeda married Ted Tonks, a Muggle-born wizard and was disowned by the family. Andromeda was burned off the Black family tree, just like Sirius Black, and they were forbidden to talk about her. At the end of the First Wizarding War, while searching for information on Lord Voldemort, Bellatrix, Rodolphus Lestrange (husband), Rabastan Lestrange (brother-in-law), and Barty Crouch Jr took part in the torture of the Aurors Frank and Alice Longbottom (parents of Neville Longbottom) driving them insane. They were caught and sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban for torturing the two Aurors.

Bellatrix escaped from Azkaban in the 1996 mass break-out, along with nine other Death Eaters. She participated in several battles of the Second Wizarding War, making it a particular goal to murder any relatives who were members of the Order of the Phoenix, including her cousin Sirius Black and niece Nymphadora Tonks. Bellatrix also murdered the Malfoy family's former house-elf, Dobby, who had become a firm ally of Harry Potter, with her knife. During the final battle, apart from Voldemort, she was the last Death Eater standing, but was eventually killed in a duel by Molly Weasley after her attempted murder of Molly Weasley's daughter, Ginevra Weasley.

Unknown to the world, however, before her death, Bellatrix gave birth to an illegitimate daughter named Delphini, whom she conceived with her beloved master, Lord Voldemort. Delphini was conceived sometime after the Battle of the Department of Mysteries in 1996 and before Bellatrix's death at the Battle of Hogwarts.

Zippo514 LadyStoneheart

Lady Stoneheart is a fictional character in the A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels by American author George R. R. Martin. She is a revived Lady Catelyn Stark (née Tully), possessing none of the empathetic or forgiving qualities Catelyn Stark did in her first life.

After Catelyn's death in Red Wedding, her body was thrown in the river and found by Arya's direwolf Nymeria three days later, who pulled it out the cold water. Not long after, the Brotherhood without Banners found the corpse. Harwin, the former Master of Horse at Winterfell, begs Thoros to revive her, but he says she has been dead too long. Catelyn is resurrected by Beric Dondarrion, who gives his life for hers through the last kiss of R'hllor. Thus, Beric's unnatural life finally ends for good.

Catelyn's mutilated body emerges as a vengeful undead person. She becomes known as Lady Stoneheart, and assumes leadership of the Brotherhood. Death has changed Catelyn. She is less gracious and forgiving than in life and is consumed with a desire for vengeance on anyone she thinks betrayed her and her son, Robb. She is mercilessly hunting down and hanging anyone she considers a Lannister collaborator. She hangs any men associated with the Freys, Boltons, or Lannisters, even if they had nothing to do with the "Red Wedding" or if they are boys, as is the case of Podrick Payne. Her appearance has been altered as well, with her flesh becoming soft and the color of curdled milk due to her corpse being submerged in river water for days. Half of her hair is gone and the rest is white and brittle. In addition, her wounds have not healed, with her face covered in scratch marks and her throat still slit open. To speak, she must cover the wound on her throat; even then, she is difficult to understand.

Kylo Ren[]

Kylo Ren Poster

Kylo Ren, originally born as Ben Solo, is the main antagonist of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, serving as the main antagonist of the first installment The Force Awakens, and the second installment The Last Jedi. He is set to return in the third and final installment Star Wars: Episode IX.

Kylo Ren, a Force-sensitive human male, was a dark side warrior who became Supreme Leader of the First Order during their war with the Resistance. Given the name Ben Solo, he was born in 5 ABY, one year after the Battle of Endor, on the planet Chandrila to Princess Leia Organa and General Han Solo, whose busy lives left Ben with feelings of abandonment. He was a scion of the Skywalker bloodline on his mother's side, and therefore possessed raw strength in the Force which ultimately attracted the attention of Supreme Leader Snoke. At Organa's request, Solo was sent away to be trained as a Jedi by his uncle, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. However, Solo's inner turmoil was exploited by Snoke, who sought to turn the young Jedi hopeful to the dark side of the Force. Everything changed for Solo when he awoke to see Skywalker with his lightsaber drawn. Believing his master intended to murder him in his sleep, Solo slaughtered his fellow Jedi students and became Snoke's apprentice as well as a Knight of Ren, and was given the moniker of "Jedi Killer" among the First Order ranks. Ren idolized his grandfather, the fallen Sith Lord Darth Vader, and hoped to finish what Vader started: the elimination of the Jedi. As a leading member of the First Order, he represented its mystical side and had authority to command its armies, leading to tense competition between Ren and First Order officers, particularly General Armitage Hux.

After Ren's fall, Skywalker vanished into exile to search for the first Jedi Temple. Ren commanded First Order forces in search of a critical fragment of a map leading to Skywalker, tracing it to Lor San Tekka on Jakku. While Ren arrived too late to secure the map, he interrogated Poe Dameron and learned that the map and the droid who carried it, BB-8, had come into Han Solo's possession. He tracked them to Takodana, where Ren discovered Rey assisting BB-8. Ren brought her to Starkiller Base and attempted to probe her mind for the map's information, but she resisted and escaped. While pursuing Rey, Ren encountered Solo during the Resistance attack on Starkiller Base. After a brief confrontation, he killed his father, hoping to eliminate the light that Ren struggled with inside himself. Ren then pursued Rey and the fugitive stormtrooper Finn and engaged both in a lightsaber duel, besting Finn before being defeated and wounded by Rey.

In the aftermath of Starkiller Base's destruction, Ren was summoned to Snoke's flagship, the Supremacy, where the Supreme Leader berated him for his recent failures. Doubting that Ren would become the new Darth Vader, Snoke sidelined Ren during the First Order's pursuit of the Resistance fleet. At the same time, Ren discovered that he possessed a Force-bond with Rey, allowing them to see and hear each other despite being separated by millions of light-years across the galaxy. As their bond grew stronger, Rey gained new insights into Ren's conflicted nature as well as his pain and misery; she ultimately set out to confront Ren in the hope that he would join her against Snoke. Ren killed Snoke, who ordered him to execute Rey, but instead of turning to the light as Rey had hoped, the former apprentice sought to claim his dead master's mantle as Supreme Leader. He invited Rey to join him, insisting that they could rule together and bring a new order to the galaxy, but she rejected his offer and fled to rejoin the Resistance.

Resolving to rule alone, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren ordered General Hux to deploy the First Order's forces to Crait in order to annihilate the remnants of the Resistance. During the battle, Ren confronted Luke Skywalker in single combat. However, Skywalker was not physically present, having projected himself from Ahch-To, and Ren was unable to defeat him. The duel bought time for the Resistance survivors to escape and Skywalker vanished, denying Ren his victory over both the Jedi and the Resistance.

Tsubaki[]

Tsubaki

Tsubaki is a villainess in Inuyasha and was once the rival of Kikyo, seeing as she was the only one who matched her with power. As a dark priestess, Tsubaki makes deals with demons, and made one such deal for eternal youth at some point. Even as she aged, she was able to maintain a youthful appearance under her elderly disguise.

Tsubaki was a powerful priestess who rivaled even Kikyo in power, and was well-respected before her turn towards darkness. One day, Tsubaki cursed Kikyo, saying that she must abandon human feelings to retain her power, and that if she falls in love with a man she would die a horrible death. Kikyo knew she was cursed, but wasn't concerned, and scoffed at the idea of love. Tsubaki wished for the Sacred Jewel to retain her youth for fear of fading beauty, which is why the jewel was entrusted to Kikyo.

Soon after, Kikyo began to fall for Inuyasha, and Tsubaki desired the jewel for her wish to be granted, so she arranged to curse and kill her rival using her familiar, a Shikigami. Unfortunately for her, Kikyo fired the curse back upon its caster, giving her a scar on her right eye making Tsubaki vow revenge on her rival. As it turned out, the dark priestess was correct, and Kikyo died a violent death at the hands of (inadvertently) Naraku. Even 50 years later, Tsubaki's hatred for her held, and Naraku used this to his advantage. He asked for her services in turning Kagome on Inuyasha and kill him vicariously through her. Kagura was also surprised when the dark priestess revealed that despite her biological age, she could regress to her former youth.

Tsubaki succeeded in cursing Kagome through tainted shards of the Shikon Jewel, and maintained control over her body, although not over her mind, leaving her with enough strength to tell Inuyasha to flee. He refuses, however, and Kikyo later confronts the dark priestess. Tsubaki notices that she literally has not aged in the 50 years since her passing, and Kikyo acknowledges Kagome's power, saying that if she did manage to kill Inuyasha she would avenge him. Kagome snaps out of her trance and she and her group track Tsubaki down, engaging in a battle with her. Kagome ends the battle by firing the priestess' Shikigami back at her, thus breaking the curse that was placed upon her. Tsubaki disappears in the manga after this instance.

The anime shows what happened to Tsubaki after she fled the battle. She began to hate Naraku when she realized that she was just another one of his tools, and took the Shikon Jewel for herself, fleeing to the shrine where she once trained. She tricks two of the initiates standing guard, Momiji and Botan, into assisting her with eliminating Inuyasha and Kagome. Meanwhile, while Momiji and Botan deal with Inuyasha's group, the priestess planned to awaken a sealed demon and obtain its power via her cursed eye. As Inuyasha desperately tries to convince the initiates that Tsubaki is the evil one, Kagura stops by to retrieve the jewel, but the priestess refuses to part with it.

She succeeds in absorbing the sealed demon's powers, and turns into a massive half-demon. Inuyasha deals a fatal blow with his Backlash Wave. The sacred jewel is returned to Naraku as Tsubaki ages and fades away, regretting underestimating Inuyasha and Kagome's power.

Fiona Goode[]

Tumblr n00zvykKbT1qczeeoo1 500

Fiona Goode is the main antagonist of American Horror Story: Coven, the third season of the FX television series, American Horror Story.

She was played by Jessica Lange, who previously played Constance Langdon in American Horror Story: Murder House (the show's first season,) Sister Jude in Asylum (the second season,) and Elsa Mars in Freak Show (the fourth season). She was also portrayed by Riley Voelkel and Kate Paige in a few flashbacks.

Fiona is a beautiful and graceful woman, though exceedingly vain, particularly when it comes to aging. She is kind and compassionate, but is also ruthless, exhibiting no guilt over murder. As a manipulative and powerful witch, she fears no one and wants to live forever. She also finds amusement in taunting and belittling others, including her own daughter Cordelia, whom she verbally rips to shreds at any given occasion, to the point of verbal abuse.

Fiona favors wearing black, though she is extremely abusive, derisive, sarcastic, disdainful, egotistical, contemptuous, temperamental, vituperative, and opprobrious towards other common stereotypes of witches. Anyone she deems useless she eliminates, whether it is by simple memory wipes, or by inhaling their very life force. Despite her vanity, she does care for her daughter and her pupils in her own strange way, but is not above using them for her own benefit when the opportunity arises. Also, as a positive and empathetic side of her complex personality is the fact that she utterly despises racists and bigots, and makes it very clear to their faces.

Upon learning she has cancer, she becomes depressed and begins to lose the will to live, but upon meeting the Axeman, she return to her normal self. She has shown several sociopathic traits such as deception and manipulation. She manipulates the Axeman into doing her bidding on more than one occasion. She isn't above manipulating anyone else either, she commonly uses other people for her own gain. After finding out that she had no soul, her first idea was to kill all of her fellow witches.

The Boss[]

Mgs3-the-boss

The Boss, also known as The Joy, The Mother of Special Forces, Mercury Lady and Voyevoda (Russian: Воевода, "Warlord"), was the former secondary antagonist of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. She was a renowned American female soldier, founder and leader of the Cobra Unit, the biological mother of Ocelot, and mentor and mother figure to Naked Snake. In June 1944, during World War II, she led the Cobra Unit to victory at the Battle of Normandy. Together with Naked Snake, she developed the technique of CQC.

The Boss, as her original codename suggested, found joy in battle. However, when she went to space, her view on war changed. She believed that there was more to life than the Cold War, recognizing the pointlessness of the conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union. As such, she longed for a world that would be united in which people would respect each other as human beings, as opposed to remaining in constant conflict. This was despite the fact that she herself was a soldier.

Ever since failing her mission in 1943, The Boss had decidedly blamed herself for the atomic bombing of Nagasaki and the rise of the Cold War; having thought in retrospect that if she had succeeded, the Cold War might never have started in the first place. Because of this, she would go on to dedicate her entire life to her country and its faults based on what she felt was a conflict that she had brought upon the world. The Boss would go on to maintain this strong sense of loyalty to her country as a soldier; her loyalty was so great that she allowed the government to use her ruthlessly and knowingly had her killed by her apprentice Naked Snake.

Despite this, she was not blinded by her loyalty to the extent that she didn't know how soldiers were used, as she mentioned to Naked Snake when they re-encountered each other after five years. Her unrelenting loyalty was ultimately what led to her death; having purposely suppressed her own ideals and personal feelings for many years as part of her penance. As her idealistic notions were condemned and feared by her superiors, she allowed herself to die hoping that Naked Snake would learn the truth of her tortured life so that he may learn from her mistakes and live a normal life dedicated only to himself. Though she believed that the Philosophers had grown far too corrupt to be redeemed, she clung onto what little hope she had that her sacrifice would somehow help in uniting the rest of the world. She also accurately predicted that America and Russia would no longer remain enemies in the 21st century.

Like her apprentice Big Boss and his son Solid Snake, she was a very strong-willed person and had a very strong charisma as she could take the burden of her country having her killed, turning her back on her Cobra Unit and having her reputation destroyed in order to complete her final mission. Her charisma was so strong that it influenced the very creation of the Patriots and was among the reasons she was killed.

Possessing great wisdom in warfare, she was a fierce soldier that sparked fear and admiration among her enemies, colleagues, and allies. Although she held a calm and collected demeanor, she possessed such a strong and overbearing presence that even Volgin was intimidated by her whenever she questioned his mistrust towards her. Despite "The Joy" being her former codename, The Boss rarely smiled during the events of Operation Snake Eater. In contrast, her lover The Sorrow always smiled during his encounters with Naked Snake, with not one occasion where there was a frown on his face. The Boss also had a lot of love and care for her apprentice Naked Snake. She also protected Snake during Operation Snake Eater from Ocelot and EVA by making them promise not to kill him, and she instructed EVA to tell Snake the truth behind her final mission and death as she wanted him to know. The Boss knew that Snake would feel guilty for killing her so she told EVA to tell him to forgive himself and to let it go.

The Boss was a proficient user of CQC, having helped found the techniques and principle with her apprentice Naked Snake. She was able to execute field-strips at fast speeds against her opponents, often disarming them in a matter of seconds. On one occasion, The Boss was able to disarm Colonel Volgin, towering at 6'7", and knock him to the floor without needing much effort or leverage over him. The Boss possessed a tremendous amount of physical strength, evidenced by her carrying the containers for the Davy Crockett launcher and the two Davy Crockett shells, which in combined weight would have exceeded 300 kg (nearly 700 pounds) late into the Virtuous Mission, and fire it by hand at Groznyj Grad and Graniny Gorki late into Operation Snake Eater.

The Boss used to smoke cigars, but quit sometime prior to the Virtuous Mission.[19] Although The Boss scolded Naked Snake for wearing her bandanna during Operation Snake Eater, demonstrating his inability to let go of the past, she was really somewhat happy in her heart. The Boss had a large snake-shaped scar that ran across her upper torso, as a result of giving birth via cesarean section on the battlefield. The Boss likened her remaining sense of pain to that of a snake slithering across her body.

Henry Parrish / Jeremy Crane[]

Henry Parrish (born Jeremy Crane) is a major antagonist on the FOX television series Sleepy Hollow, serving as the main antagonist for the latter half of the second season. He later re-appeared in the fourth season as a illusion before getting revived and became the Horseman of War once again.

The son of Ichabod and Katrina Crane, he made a deal with Moloch for his own freedom in exchange for becoming War, the Second Horseman of the Apocalypse, as part of Moloch's plan to bring forth the Apocalypse.

As he was always alone, Henry/Jeremy enjoyed solitude and despised others greatly as those he loved had died and everyone else saw him as a monster, some even punishing him for his powers. As a young child, when Jeremy created his Golem, he felt like he had a true friend and father to watch out for him and was satisfied to be alone with his Golem as it protected him from anyone else. As the Sisterhood of the Radiant Heart was responsible for trapping his mother in Purgatory, he grew to resent the Sisterhood and refused to join them at every opportunity. When they trapped the Golem in Purgatory and attempted to murder him, he seethed in anger and rage for two centuries under the ground.

As no one but his Golem was anything close to a friend or family, he felt alone. As Moloch offered him a place of power and released him from his tomb, Jeremy was more than willing to accept Moloch as his "true father," seeing that Ichabod and Katrina's absences in his life were a betrayal that created his life of suffering. Later episodes showed that he remembered events from his childhood when in places where they occurred, but these memories only served to make him more resentful of his parents.

After losing his armor in battle against Frank and then being sent to his doom by Moloch, Henry saw the demon king as cruel and uncaring, even to the point of feeling hurt when Moloch stated that there had been Horsemen before Henry and there would be Horsemen after him. This resulted in Henry finally forgiving his parents and turning against Moloch, especially after Ichabod pleaded with Jeremy to take his life instead of Katrina's.

He is portrayed by John Noble, who also portrayed Denethor in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Unicron in Transformers Prime, Walternate in Fringe, Brainiac in Superman: Unbound, Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Knight, and the voice of Mallus in DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

Darth Cadeus[]

Caedus EA

Darth Caedus (born Jacen Solo) is the main protagonist turned main antagonist of The Legacy of the Force series and formerly one of the main heroes of the New Jedi Order series. The son of Han and Leia Organa Solo, Jacen Solo was a leading Jedi Knight who proved crucial in defeating the Yuuzhan Vong and protecting the galaxy during the Yuuzhan Vong War. The grandson of Darth Vader, Darth Caedus was a Sith Lord who turned against his family and friends, betraying his former principles and leading the Galactic Alliance he once championed into a reign of terror as he attempted to bring order and stability to a fractured galaxy. It was Solo's desire to protect the galaxy and his increasing willingness to accept any cost in that cause that facilitated his fall to the Sith.

Born in 9 ABY, Jacen Solo spent most of his early years as the target of various kidnapping plots and schemes against his famous parents. When he was thirteen, he and his twin sister Jaina began attending the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4, where their uncle Luke Skywalker taught them the ways of the Force. There he made several friends, among them the Hapan princess Tenel Ka Djo, to whom he became strongly attracted. While training, he and his friends defeated numerous plots against the New Republic and, in 24 ABY, he and his younger brother Anakin were apprenticed to Skywalker. A philosopher who struggled with the idea of employing violence to fight violence, Solo entered a personal crisis with the outbreak of the Yuuzhan Vong War. He preferred to serve off the front lines, but felt obligated to volunteer for the strike team assembled to eliminate the voxyn queen at Myrkr. There, Anakin Solo was killed and Jacen Solo stepped up to lead the team, killing the queen and ending the voxyn threat before he was captured by the Yuuzhan Vong.

Solo spent nearly a year in captivity, during which he was tortured for weeks at a time. Solo struggled with his circumstances and with the teachings of his captor and mentor, Vergere. He slipped to the dark side before returning and embracing the idea of responding to the universe with unconditional, all-encompassing love. He escaped Yuuzhan Vong custody with Vergere, a former Jedi of the Old Republic, and rejoined the war effort. In the final battle of the war, Solo stormed Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane's Citadel and defeated Onimi, who was mentally controlling the Supreme Overlord, while Solo himself experienced a moment of unity with the Force.

Afterward, he spent five years visiting and learning from various Force-using sects. During his time with the Mind Walkers, he experienced a vision of a dark figure ruling the galaxy and became determined to prevent its fulfillment. He returned to the Jedi during the Dark Nest Crisis and, armed with a more ruthless philosophy of accepting various sacrifices in the name of the greater good, conspired to eliminate the Killiks to prevent another vision of galactic war and protect his infant daughter Allana, secretly conceived with Tenel Ka Djo. In 40 ABY, Solo agreed to become the Sith apprentice of Lumiya after probing the future and finding that, if he did not do so, he would kill Luke Skywalker and the galaxy would be consumed by chaos. He embarked on a year-long descent into the dark side, slowly turning against the Jedi and his family as he grew darker and more extreme. After seizing control of the Galactic Alliance, killing Mara Jade Skywalker, torturing his former apprentice Ben Skywalker, committing multiple atrocities, taking Tahiri Veila as his official Sith apprentice, and ascending to Sith Mastery as Darth Caedus, he was finally killed by his twin sister Jaina.

Moonstone[]

Moonstone

Moonstone (real name: Karla Sofen) is a Marvel villain who is a nemesis of Hulk and once disguised as Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) for a large amount of time, manipulating her allies. Like many other Marvel villains, she eventually redeemed herself and joined the Thunderbolts. She is the archenemy of Carol Danvers.

Karla Sofen was a psychologist under the tutelage of Doctor Faustus who gained her powers through a mystical moonstone, a strange gem taken from the moon which granted its user great power. She stole the gem from one of her patients, Byron Becton aka Nefarius, via psychological inducement. She absorbed Becton's moonstone armor into her body, giving her ultimate power over the gems.

As the new Moonstone, Sofen gained many powers, including superhuman strength, speed, agility, and durability, flight, control of gravity, photon blast projection from her hands, intangibility, and several other powers.

Moonstone's secret identity was revealed to the public after a battle with the Hulk. Moonstone joined the Masters of Evil as well as at one point teamed up with Baron Zemo. She also battled Graviton, another villain with gravitational powers superior to hers. After Graviton killed one of her childhood friends, and her moonstones were taken from her by the Avengers, Sofen became mentally unstable, and Zemo used this as an opportunity to take the moonstones for himself. She eventually got them back and regained her mental stability.

Moonstone was a member of the Masters of Evil and joined Zemo when he and several other villains went under the guise of a new team of superheroes, the Thunderbolts. She often analyzed and manipulated the other members to study their psychological attributes. Even though she stood up to Zemo alongside the others when he unleashed his real plan for world domination, she never truly reformed and later joined Norman Osborn's version of the Thunderbolts and well as his Dark Avengers as the evil counterpart of Ms. Marvel, with whom she had a bitter rivalry.

Doctor Doom[]

DrDoom Main

Victor Von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom, is a major character in Marvel Comics usually serving as the overall main antagonist of the Fantastic Four comic book series and it's related media. He is a super-genius, a powerful sorcerer and the technologically advanced ruler of the country of Latveria, who seeks to expand his rule over the Earth as well as the universe, as he believes that it is the only way for them to survive. He is the arch-nemesis of the Fantastic Four, and an enemy towards the majority of the world's superheroes. He serves as the secondary antagonist of the 1984 Secret Wars storyline, the main antagonist of the Fantastic Four comic book story line Unthinkable, the titular main antagonist of the Avengers comic book story line Doomwar, the protagonist villain of the 2015 sequel of Secret Wars, and the titular protagonist of the Infamous Iron Man comic book series.

Victor Von Doom is the arch enemy of the Fantastic Four, and is the self-proclaimed unquestioned smartest man on Earth. Doom was born in a Romani family in the nation of Latveria, as the son of a witch and a herbalist. When his mother Cynthia was killed by demons (which she herself summoned to fight Latverian soldiers), he promised revenge, and the death of his father because of a Latverian tyrant only fueled his desire. Doom began to master both magic and technology, and when his fame reached the United States, he gained the opportunity to study in America. There he met Reed Richards, one of the few men on the planet whose intelligence can even approach his own (and then not by much). Wishing to resurrect his dead mother, he attempted to construct a portal to hell; however, due to miscalculations that he refused to acknowledge, the device exploded and damaged his face. Though Doom was responsible for the incident, he still blamed Richards for the accident and withdrew from society for some time.

He then joined a mysterious order which taught him secret knowledge, including metallurgy. He used it to create a suit of power armor that he has been using (with some modifications) since that day. From that moment, and forever more, he has been known as Doctor Doom. He overthrew the previous ruler of Latveria and claimed it as his own, becoming the new ruler of his country. Quickly his path crossed with the Fantastic Four, who became his sworn enemies. However, he has also fought with almost every mega-hero in the Marvel Universe, and even some heroes outside of the Marvel Universe (example: Superman).

On that account, he has had more than a few serious setbacks such as when Reed Richards caused him to be deposed in favor of Prince Zorba, however, he eventually regained the throne with the help of Richards and his compatriots when he showed them that Zorba was laying waste to Latveria in his murderous madness. True, in their eyes they were participating in his retaking of the throne entirely for the sake of the oppressed people of Latveria, and that was good enough for him.

Unlike many other villains, Doom does not want to rule the world out of greed or hunger for power. Doom genuinely believes he should rule the world in order to shield it from the various possible futures he has seen thanks to his ability to travel through time. Thanks to these motives, Doom has, on several occasions, joined forces with heroes, even becoming part of the Fantastic Four's Future Foundation despite them being his archenemies.

As of recent events, he is now the Infamous Iron Man.

Lucy[]

Lucy (Elfen Lied)

Lucy is the protagonist and anti-hero of Elfen Lied. She is the Queen Diclonius, an evolutionary offshoot of the human race. She is also the love interest of the secondary protagonist, Kouta.

Her original personality (Kaede) was that of a depressed, distrustful, withdrawn and frustrated kid. She was discriminated against by others, because of her horns. Thinking that she was abandoned by her parents, she was also ostracized by the staff of the orphanage, bullied and treated contemptuously by other children, all this because of her horns. She didn't understand why such discrimination happened, and so she also suffered from self-hatred from having horns. To some extent she understood that the other kids were miserable and needed to make others miserable too, targeting especially those already more miserable than them. When gaining intimacy with someone as Kouta and Aiko, she is shown to be sweet, kind and shy.

After witnessing her dog's murder at the hands of the orphanage bullies, Lucy began to develop a deep hatred of Humans, killing whole families just to use their house, without regret or guilt. Shortly after this, Lucy and Kaede began to hear a voice in their head, supposedly the voice of the body's DNA. The voice of her Diclonius instincts had the mental image of herself, with the only difference having a cold and sadistic expression. The voice told her that she couldn't coexist in a world with Humans, and then said: "Join me. Then I will make to you a place to live in.". From that point on Lucy began to listen to her instincts, killing some Humans by way of inducing heart attacks, and spreading her genes to Male Humans, who would have Diclonius children who would in turn kill and infect more. Her Diclonii instincts began to overpower her, leading her to become more sadistic and psychopathic.

Captain Ahab[]

Captain Ahab

Captain Ahab is a fictional character and the main protagonist in Herman Melville's Moby-Dick (1851). He is the monomaniacal captain of the whaling ship Pequod. On a previous voyage, the white whale Moby Dick bit off Ahab's leg, and he now wears a prosthetic leg made out of whalebone. The whaling voyage of the Pequod ends up as a hunt for revenge on the whale, as Ahab forces the crew members to support his fanatical mission. When Moby Dick is finally sighted, Ahab's hatred robs him of all caution, and the whale drags Ahab to the bottom of the sea.

Melville biographer Andrew Delbanco calls Ahab "a brilliant personification of the very essence of fanaticism". Scholar F. O. Matthiessen calls attention to the fact that Ahab is called an "ungodly god-like man". Ahab's "tragedy is that of an unregenerate will" whose "burning mind is barred out from the exuberance of love" and argues that he "remains damned". Writer D. H. Lawrence felt little sympathy for Ahab and found that the whale should have "torn off both his legs, and a bit more besides".

The character of Ahab was created under the influence of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's lecture on Hamlet and figures in biblical and classical literature such as Shakespeare and Milton. His prosthesis, for instance, has been taken for an allusion to the Oedipus myth.

Ahab is firmly established in popular culture by cartoons, comic books, films and plays. Most famously, he provided J. M. Barrie with the model for his Captain Hook character, who is obsessed not with a whale but a crocodile.

Seryu Ubiquitous[]

62523419 p0 master1200

Seryu Ubiquitous is a major villainess in the Anime/Manga Akame Ga Kill!. She was a member of the military team known as the Jaegers and a former member of the Imperial Guard. Seryu was a woman with a strong, but warped, sense of justice that defined her highly delusional and psychotic obsession. She is Mine's arch-nemesis.

She is voiced by Kana Hanazawa in the Japanese version of the anime, and Kira Vincent-Davis in the English version of the anime.

Although she initially appeared as a kind and compassionate person, Seryu is ruthless, psychotic and unstable. She was seen to enjoy killing to a high extent those of whom she considered to be evil, almost as if it was a hobby. She has a strong fixation upon "Justice", originating from her father's service in the Imperial Army and subsequent death. She also highly respected Ogre the Demon, her superior and teacher, and was heavily anguished by his death as well. Her opinion of justice is blunt, as she believes Night Raid is evil for their actions as assassins, but believes killing in service to justice is always right, which ultimately makes her opinion of murder similar to that of Tatsumi and Chelsea's, if not completely the same.

Seryu had a twisted sense of right and wrong, bordering on a completely black and white view of the world: seeing the authority of the immensely corrupt Empire as absolutely right, and its enemies as pure evil. She was fully committed to her duties and relished fighting for the imperials. Her twisted view of justice caused a level of distrust towards her by her own teammates, as well as the entire imperial forces on occasion, as she brutally murdered a group of captured prisoners before her team could interrogate them. This sense of right and wrong is so twisted as she lacks mercy of any kind. She has stated that evil deserves no mercy, which is ironic as that is the one thing which separates justice from vengeance or even common murder.

She is also willing to go behind the back of her Captain, despite her show of loyalty and respect to Esdeath to satiate her bloodlust and was planning on killing Tatsumi as well as Mine and simply intended to say that she couldn't help herself despite knowing quite well that this would be going against orders, as Esdeath wanted them captured alive, not dead.

She is also hypocritical. On her first mission in the Jaegers, she said that justice always fights fair and square, along with attacking head on, but in her fight against Night Raid, she used rather underhanded means to try and win. Using a hidden gun in her mouth, she paralyzed Sheele so Koro could kill her. She also tried to kill Tatsumi and Mine from afar using her long range weapons with no warning, basically performing a sneak attack to kill them, which would have worked had Mine not caught the scent of gunpowder.

Seryu is ultimately convinced that she is doing the right thing in what she does but her actions tend to be far more brutal and insidious than those of the people she believes to be evil. As noted by Mine, she is completely ignorant of the fact that Ogre and Stylish were themselves evil, the former having framed many people for crimes and had them hanged, while the latter used humans for experiments without any moral reserve. She also has a nasty habit of showing her trademark "crazy face" every time she engages an enemy. After mocking Mine about her two comrades who were devoured by her Teigu and proceeding to say she'd suffer the same fate, Mine ultimately stated that Seryu is nothing but insane.

However, Seryu also seemed to have some limits, respecting her credibility on the Empire's benevolence, despite being in the same field. She seemed to despise Bolic due his mistreatment of Path of Peace's female members and for being arrogant.

When she presented herself in a calm way, Seryu was eager to help out people in need. She was often seen idolizing her superiors and showing deep sorrow upon hearing the news of their deaths. Overall, taking into account her simplistic view of the world, hero worship, and sometimes childish behavior, Seryu has quite an immature personality with a streak of emotional instability. She has stated a dislike for dressing up during parties or the like, which coincides with her somewhat tomboyish personality.

Jaime Lannister[]

Jaime kingsguard promo

Ser Jaime Lannister, also known as the Kingslayer, is the second child and first-born son of Lord Tywin Lannister of Casterly Rock and his wife Lady Joanna, also of House Lannister. Raised to the Kingsguard of the Mad King Aerys II Targaryen at the age of 15, Jaime became the youngest member in the history of the prestigious knightly order.

He earned the derogatory nickname "Kingslayer" when he treasonously slew King Aerys near the end of Robert's Rebellion. For most of his life, Jaime has had a secretly incestuous relationship with his twin sister, Queen Cersei. He has fathered three children by her: Joffrey, Mycella, and Tommen, though most of the realm believes their father to be Cersei's husband, King Robert I Baratheon.

In A Storm of Swords, Jaime becomes a POV Character. He served as one of the two main antagonists of Season 1, alongside Cersei. During Seasons 2 and 3, he became an anti-hero, and since Season 4, he has become a supporting protagonist, though still has some anti-hero qualities.

At first glance, outsiders perceive Jaime to be arrogant, cocky, cold, dishonorable, extremely dangerous, ruthless, disdainful, and sarcastic. To a large extent he is arrogant about his own abilities, but not without cause. Even all of his enemies admit that he is unarguably one of the greatest swordsmen who has ever lived with very few (such as Ned Stark, Jon Snow and Brienne of Tarth) able to match him. Jaime is unquestionably one of the greatest warriors in the world, he is an extremely lethal fighter, a highly skilled warrior, and he has incredible combat skills. Jaime's loss of his sword-hand did much to humble him, given that in many ways he was that hand and how much his self-identity depended on his incredible skills with a sword and knife. Jaime is famous throughout the world for being one of the greatest warriors of all time and for being a "brilliant swordsman" which he is widely feared for. Jaime does not mock others over minor insults the way Cersei does, and he can muster up polite behavior, but he is usually very blunt and straightforward Much like his brother Tyrion, he typically just says what he is thinking, and has no reservations about mocking those he perceives as incompetent. Despite this, there were men that Jaime admired (like Ser Barristan Selmy, for whom he squired) and, underneath this cold and sarcastic attitude, Jaime is a very complicated man.

Tywin Lannister has raised Jaime and Cersei with the principle of ruthlessness as a virtue. Yet even though Jaime Lannister often behaves unapologetically amoral, in his own warped way, Jaime is the only member of the core Lannister family (Tywin and his three children) aside from Tyrion who shows any hint of honor or principles, whilst Tywin claims to see family as his highest priority but simultaneously is willing to have Tyrion, whom he views as an incalculable disgrace, killed, and Cersei herself ironically sees no immorality whatsoever in anything she does. This is largely based on his arrogance and pride at being a member of the Kingsguard. Jaime became extremely disillusioned with ideals of honor and loyalty when he saw firsthand the atrocities committed by the Mad King, how other "honorable" members of the Kingsguard stood by and did nothing while King Aerys had people burned alive for imagined insults, because they felt bound by vows of faith and fealty - in this sense, Jaime is surprisingly similar to Sandor Clegane, since they both have powerful disillusionments about honor and nobility, yet they both frequently avoid unnecessary violence.

A key difference between Cersei and Jaime is that Cersei honestly believes, in her skewed view of the world, that she is "good", Joffrey is a great king, and all of her enemies are "evil" people trying to destroy her and her children. In contrast, Jaime does not maintain any pretense of being a "good" or honorable man, as he has become apathetic to such concerns - this was influenced by him being hated and loathed by everyone because he killed a man who had infamously terrorized the Seven Kingdoms, opening his eyes to how people perceive goodness and honor. However, he still has some respect for the rules of engagement, as he refused to kill Ned Stark when their duel ended abruptly, since Ned was incapacitated by an opportunistic guard rather than Jaime himself - Jaime personally punished that guard seconds after the duel ended. Jaime also was capable of treating his own enemies rather respectfully, telling Ned Stark that his father and brother didn't deserve to die the way Aerys killed them, and saved Olenna Tyrell from a crueler fate that Cersei would have inevitably given her, by allowing her to die painlessly.

In the television series, he was portrayed by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Jigsaw[]

JohnKramerJigsaw

The Jigsaw Killer, or simply Jigsaw (real name: Johnathan "John" Kramer), is the overall main antagonist of the successful horror film franchise, Saw. He is a former civil engineer whom through the years, became a psychotic, relentless, deluded, obsessive and manipulative serial killer bent on the intention of teaching his victims he is trapping and killing usage death traps, that their life is worth living and that they really should appreciate every single moment. He is probably most famous with intimidation of victims usage Billy the Puppet, a special small red and white kabuki-like doll and famous with his catchphrase "I want to play a game".

John Kramer has a deep running philosophy that human beings have an instinctual will to live in the face of death though years of evolution have caused their survival attitude to dull and now are unable to appreciate their lives. The death of his unborn child, cancer and failed suicide attempt claimed to bring him "awake" to his attitude on human nature (who in his views are sleepwalking through life and not appreciating their lives) and vowed to test everyone's will to live for the betterment of humanity. As Jigsaw, Kramer targets victims he considers wasting their lives, neglecting what they should value or who go against his philosophy.

Though the nature of his tests are incredibly brutal, Kramer shows no enjoyment from his victims suffering but believes it will help them reevaluate themselves, as his most of his victims have already hit rock-bottom in their lives (noticeably drug dealers or users). He is deeply sympathetic to surviving test subjects such as Lawrence Gordon after he amputated his leg to escape and roots that they live.

However, Kramer takes a small amount of enjoyment in his tests as he slightly smiled when hearing the screams of the imprisoned detective Matthews (who previously beat Kramer to near-death) and targeting the corrupt William Easton for his apprentice, Mark Hoffman to test after his death when he refused to treat his cancer despite just claims his mission could never be personal (though it might not have been and he simply wanted to break Easton's biased philosophy). Kramer is also deeply distasteful for killing as he does not consider himself a murder due to always giving his victims a chance to escape their fate. On a technicality Kramer became too weak to even put test subject in their tests and relied on his apprentices to do most manual labor for him such as abducting and implicating victims, so he rarely participated in even second-degree murder.

He was portrayed by Tobin Bell, who later voiced Savitar in The Flash.

Killer Frost (Arrowverse)[]

Killer Frost TF.jpg

Dr. Caitlin Snow, also known as Killer Frost, is a meta-human criminal who appears in the Arrowverse series, The Flash. As Caitlin, she appeared as one of the main protagonists of the show, with her Killer Frost persona serving as the secondary antagonist of Season 3 and an anti-hero/supporting protagonist of Season 4.

As Killer Frost, Caitlin became more vindictive, worried about her powers taking over. Having already met her Earth-2 self, who represented everything she didn't want to be (cold, double-sided, sadistic and unloved), she was worried even more that Team Flash would reject her if they knew about her post-Flashpoint powers. After becoming Killer Frost, her fears, insecurities and bitterness towards Barry for his creation of Flashpoint took over, thus making Killer Frost an entirely separate entity from the Caitlin that Team Flash knew and loved. She started mocking people more for their perceived weakness, mocking Cisco for fearing that he had to hurt her at all to save Barry, whom she regarded as selfish for tampering with time to give himself a happy ending and showing no regard for the consequences of his actions.

Caitlin was more fearful now that Killer Frost would take over completely, confiding in Julian Albert about her fear. As Killer Frost, however, she mocked Julian for thinking that there was a way to bring Caitlin back fully. She had a tendency to talk long sentences, going on rants about her superiority to Caitlin, whom she perceived as weak and pitiful. Desperate to show her loyalty to Savitar, she jumped at the chance to kill Tracy Brand, who would become a problem for Savitar in the future, but was insulted by the armored speedster for failing to kill her, mocking her decision to call herself "Killer Frost" when she hasn't actually killed anyone yet.

Caitlin now has better control of Killer Frost. Her Killer Frost side has become kinder but critical of some aspects of the Caitlin side, like her tendency to wear pink.

Vaylin[]

Vaylin

Vaylin was a Force-sensitive female Human daughter of Senya Tirall and Valkorion, the "Immortal Emperor" of the Eternal Empire of Zakuul. She is the secondary antagonist in both Star Wars: The Old Republic - Knights of the Fallen Empire and Star Wars: The Old Republic - Knights of The Eternal Throne.

The younger sister of twin brothers Thexan and Arcann, she displayed incredible strength in the Force since early childhood, but was also difficult to control, causing Valkorion to lock her away on Nathema, fearing that she could one day challenge him. In Nathema's Sanitarium Vaylin was subjected to intense mental and physical torture that broke her innocence, turning her into a sadistic person with no empathy for others. Senya attempted to get her daughter out, but was stopped from doing so by Valkorion, causing Vaylin to blame her mother for her suffering and develop an intense hatred for her. Subjected to a mental conditioning only Valkorion knew about, Vaylin was eventually allowed to return to Zakuul, where she bid her time instead of immediately striking back. When Arcann arranged for their father's death, blaming it on the Outlander, Vaylin supported him and became the High Justice to the new Eternal Emperor, who conquered both the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic in less than a year.

Five years into Arcann's reign, the Outlander was released from imprisonment in carbonite by Lana Beniko and Vaylin personally led the pursuit, but was unable to prevent them from escaping. The fugitives eventually fled the planet on the Gravestone with Senya's help, giving Vaylin another reason to hate her mother who now fought against her own children. During the battle of Asylum Vaylin fought her mother and revealed to her that Thexan was killed by Arcann. Vaylin personally led a series of reprisal bombardments to lure the Outlander out of hiding and inspected the Gilded Star when Senya assisted the Outlander in raiding the treasury ship while wearing Vaylin's face as disguise. During the Battle of Odessen Vaylin turned against Arcann, revealing his whereabout to the Alliance while luring Senya away to confront her mother on her own, though Arcann later returned the favor by stopping Vaylin from landing a blow, after which Senya took him away. Vaylin returned to Zakuul, where SCORPIO has claimed the Eternal Throne in their absence and was surprised when the droid offered the Throne to her, offering to act as Vaylin's advisor instead.

As the new Eternal Empress, Vaylin led a hunt for Arcann and Senya, confronting her mother on Ord Mantell where she slaughtered a host of Knights of Zakuul loyal to her mother. Tracking them to Voss, Vaylin launched an invasion to draw her family out of hiding, but was unable to kill her family because of GEMINI droids' newfound self-preservation given to them by SCORPIO. Using the rumors of the Outlander's death, Vaylin and SCORPIO launched an assault on the Gravestone, taking control of the only vessel capable of fighting the Eternal Fleet. While fighting against an Alliance counter-attack, Vaylin almost killed the Outlander when Valkorion, whose spirit resided in the Outlander's body, activated her conditioning, making Vaylin aware of it for the first time. SCORPIO took the Gravestone and the Eternal Fleet to Iokath, where Vaylin led her Zakuulan forces to reclaim the Eternal Fleet from ARIES, while also obtaining a way to restore GEMINI to their original programming. Celebrating her accomplishments at the Grand Festival of Empress Vaylin, the Empress was confronted by the Outlander and Arcann, who joined forces to stop her reign. Vaylin returned to Nathema, where the Anomid scientist Jarak responsible for her conditioning helped her break her bounds, after which she immediately launched an Assault on Odessen. During the battle the Outlander taunted Vaylin into a direct confrontation on the surface, in which Vaylin was killed, though Valkorion secretly absorbed her spirit's strength and used it to conquer the Outlander's mental defenses. As the Outlander fought Valkorion for control of their body, Valkorion send Vaylin's enslaved spirit against his opponent, but instead the Outlander freed Vaylin from Valkorion's control using Dramath's holocron. Vaylin joined the Outlander and the rest of her family in fighting against Valkorion, which resulted in the final death of the Immortal Emperor, allowing Vaylin's spirit to depart in peace.
