David Anderson is a supporting character in the Mass Effect series. He started out commanding the Normandy in the beginning of the first game. After Shepard became the first human Spectre, he handed the Normandy over to Shepard without hesitation.
Anderson has remained helpful for Shepard throughout the series, being that he is willing to do whatever he can for his friend, even going as far as getting himself in series trouble, such as the time when he went out of his way to release the Normady when the Council ordered it to remained docked in the Citidel.
He has a conflicting relationship with Donnel Udina. Both care about the human race's best interest but have different points-of-view on how they do things. Anderson had always known Udina to be power hungry but never expected that he worked for Cerberus.
Shepard can choose to have either Anderson or Udina receive a seat on the council after the humans finally receive the spot.
In Mass Effect 3, Anderson is with Shepard on Earth when the Reaper attacked. He remained on Earth to fight the invasion. He eventually met his demise on the Citidel after he tried to gain control of the Crucible to destroy all of the Reapers.
The Fayelon Story[]
Anderson is one of thousands to have survived by mysterious circumstances after the Reaper Invasion. It was clear that his injuries were fatal but instead fell into a coma. He was still in a coma when the story began and remained in the coma throughout most of the first part, but came to before Commander Shepard.
He is one of 4 important characters to have survived by mysterious circumstances, with the other 3 being Thane Krios, Mordin Solus and Commander Shepard and was the third to regain consciousness.
