Captain Ruthven is one of the main antagonists of the vampire film Byzantium, alongside Savella . He only appears in the flashback sequences as he is dead by the present day narrative. He is a Naval Captain who also works as a pimp who sets his sights on Clara Webb.

Captain Ruthven is the one of the worst kind of rapists unimaginable in fiction. He takes rape to a whole new horrifying level taking in little girls. The scary part none of his women victims are left off free or given a quick death, instead are given a transmitted disease from his body that kills them from the inside into a very slowly and agonizingly painful death. He also sells them into slavery whenever he doesn't get his horrific perverted hands on them when he's satisfied with his fun.
