Basically, during the F-Zero anime, Bart's Classroom mentioned that Rick Wheeler/Ryu Suzaku was born and raised in Boston; he was an only child living in a farm with his two parents and a dog named Axel.
In Ikran's F-Zero timeline, Rick came back to Boston and offered Tinsel to tag along, only to find an unpleasant surprise as his homeland had transformed into a barren wasteland which would soon be the basis of three new boring Stark Farm tracks, instead of being cultivated.
